What is Chipped?

Chipped by the Terrarium team multiplies vanilla's block palette by an order of magnitude: over eleven thousand variants of stone, wood, glass, wool, terracotta, and more, each themed set crafted at a dedicated workbench. Every block deserves a friend, says the tagline — most get twenty.

It runs on Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge, and for pure builders it is the single largest palette expansion available.

Workbenches and Workflow

Variants craft 1:1 (no resource cost) at themed stations:

  • Mason Table – stone, deepslate, basalt, and brick families.
  • Carpenter's Table – every wood in dozens of plank, panel, and carving styles.
  • Glassblower – stained, patterned, and framed glass.
  • Loom Table – wool and carpet patterns.
  • Alchemy Bench – glowstone, sea lanterns, and luminous variants.
  • Tinkering Table – metal blocks, lanterns, and chains.
  • Botanist's Workbench – leaves, mushrooms, and plant matter.

Workflow: place the bench, insert any base block, and scroll the variant list with live preview; conversion is bidirectional within a family, so experiments cost nothing. Variants are purely decorative — same hardness, same behavior — which keeps the mod server-friendly and balance-neutral.

Tip: Search "chipped" in JEI beside a build project and treat each bench as a palette menu; the preview pane beats placing test blocks.

Chipped FAQ

Do Chipped variants cost extra resources?

No, conversions at the workbenches are one-to-one and reversible within a block family. The mod is a palette, never a grind.

Does Chipped add performance cost?

Block variety affects resource pack memory slightly, but variants are ordinary static blocks with no tick cost. Large packs include it routinely.
